Fiorello Henry LaGuardia (1882-1947) was a US Republican Congressman from New York, three term mayor of New York City and Director General of the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration (UNRRA). Dr. Joseph Tenenbaum (1887-1961) was the founder and chairman of the Joint Boycott Council of the American Jewish Congress and a member of several other anti-Nazi organizations. Rabbi Stephen S. Wise (1874-1949) was a co-founder of the NAACP and assisted in the creation of several other Jewish organizations, such as the World Jewish Congress. Rabbi Wise was an early and outspoken opponent of Nazism. In 1942, he received the Reigner cable, which confirmed the existence of the Nazi’s “Final Solution.”
