欧洲犹太人口分布（1933 年左右）

犹太人在欧洲生活已有两千多年的历史。1933 年，美国犹太人年鉴统计了欧洲的所有犹太人口，大约为 950 万。据估计，世界犹太人口有 1530 万，这一数字占世界犹太人口总数的 60% 以上。大多数欧洲犹太人居住在东欧，其中大约 550 万生活在波兰和苏联。在纳粹 1933 年掌权以前，欧洲拥有生机勃勃并高度发达的犹太文化。在仅 10 年多一点的时间内，欧洲大多数国家遭到纳粹德国的征服、占领或吞并，三分之二的欧洲犹太人也失去了生命。
