The Gusen concentration camp was established in Austria in 1940. In 1944, Gusen and its subcamps (Gusen II and Gusen III) all became subcamps of the Mauthausen concentration camp. Over 60,000 registered prisoners passed through the camp before its liberation by the US Army in May 1945. Explore more content related to the Gusen camp during the Holocaust (1933–1945).
