Bulgaria Signs the Tripartite Pact

Photo of Bulgarian leader Bogdan Filov (standing) and German foreign minister Joachim von Ribbentrop (seated, center) on March 1, 1941. That day, Bulgaria joined the Axis alliance by the signing the Tripartite Pact in Vienna. The Tripartite Pact was the formal alliance between the Axis powers. It was originally signed by Germany, Italy, and Japan on September 27, 1940.
