SS officers on a tour of the new SS hospital at Auschwitz

SS officers and medical personnel on a tour of the newly built SS military hospital at the Auschwitz camp complex on September 1, 1944.

The five uniformed men in front (left to right) are Dr. Enno Lolling; Auschwitz commandant Richard Baer; Dr. Eduard Wirths; Rudolf Höss; and Karl Möckel. In the second row are Dr. Carl Clauberg (dressed in civilian clothing); Karl Höcker (between Lolling and Baer); and Karl Bischoff (between Wirths and Höss).

This photo is from an album that belonged to SS officer Karl Höcker. The Höcker Album includes 116 pictures taken in and around Auschwitz between May 1944 and January 1945. This photo was one of four images on a page with the caption “Tour” (“Besichtigung”).
