But because of shame my father had to take someone. Because I was the most studious one in the household, the one who knew how to read the best and everything, I had to accompany him most of the time, to Yom Kippur, a Sabbath, Rosh Hashanah. I had to go with him to schul and stay with him because he was embarrassed that no child… if no child were with him.
