Milk can used to store content of the Oneg Shabbat archives

One of the milk cans used to store and preserve the secret Oneg Shabbat archive.

The Oneg Shabbat archive was created by historian Emanuel Ringelblum and other Jews imprisoned in the Warsaw ghetto. They collected thousands of pages of documents, drawings, ration cards, posters, postcards, photographs, and other materials. They then buried the archive underground. This milk can, identified as no. 2, was unearthed in Warsaw on December 1, 1950, at what was then 68 Nowolipki Street (today 28 and 30 Nowolipki Street).
