Em 1942, Inge Auerbacher, de sete anos, foi deportada com seus pais para o gueto de Theresienstadt (Terezín). Ela levou consigo esta boneca, chamada “Marlene” em homenagem à atriz alemã Marlene Dietrich, que sua avó lhe dera. A boneca permaneceu com Inge durante seus quase três anos de aprisionamento no gueto.
