Abba Kovner

During the Holocaust, Abba Kovner (1918-1987) was active in the armed resistance against the Nazis in German-occupied Lithuania. He founded and led the United Partisans Organization (Fareynikte Partisaner Organizatsye or FPO) in the Vilna ghetto. The FPO rescued Jews and destroyed property in an attempt to sabotage the Germans. After the war, Kovner continued to search for Nazis and testified against Adolf Eichmann in 1961.
