Czechoslovakia

The interwar democracy of Czechoslovakia was an early victim of Nazi Germany’s territorial expansion. The 1938 Munich Pact allowed Nazi Germany to annex the Sudetenland, a border area of Czechoslovakia with a majority ethnic German population. Over the following months, Czechoslovakia was repeatedly partitioned before the Germans invaded in March 1939 and the Czechoslovak Republic (1918-1939) ceased to exist.
