Funeral for SS officers killed in an Allied bombing

This photo is from an album that belonged to SS officer Karl Höcker. The Höcker Album includes 116 pictures taken in and around Auschwitz between May 1944 and January 1945. The photo appeared on a page with three other images. The pages original caption reads “Funeral of SS comrades after a terror attack” (“Beisetzung von SS Kameraden nach einem Terrorangriff”). This funeral was likely for the SS men who died in the Allied bombing targeting the I. G. Farben plant near Auschwitz on September 13, 1944.
