훼손된 토라 두루마리

이 토라 두루마리들 중 하나는 비엔나의 시나고그(회당)에서 온 것이며 나머지는 독일 마버그에서 온 것이다. 이들은 유태인 대 박해(포그롬, Pogrom)가 일어난 1938년 11월 9일과 10일, 수정의 밤(Kristallnacht, “깨진 유리의 밤”이라는 뜻) 때 훼손되었다. 포그롬은 독일 전역에서 일어났는데 이후, 오스트리아와 체코슬로바키아의 수데텐란트 지역까지 확산되었다. 사진의 두루마리들은 독일인들이 개인적으로 수획하여 전쟁이 끝날 때까지 안전하게 보관한 것이다.
