Children attend a clandestine school in the Kovno ghetto

In 1942, German occupiers banned the Jewish education system in the Kovno ghetto. Despite this, Jewish teachers secretly organized and taught children. The photograph shows, among others, students Taiba Leibaite, Basia Leibaite, and David Ackerman Falahi, as well as their teacher Shmuel Rozental. Kovno, German-occupied Lithuania, 1942.
