Insignia de la 45ª División de Infantería. La 45ª División de Infantería se ganó el sobrenombre de "División Thunderbird" (pájaro de trueno) debido al ave dorada que aparece en su insignia. Este símbolo de los indios nativos americanos se convirtió en la insignia de la división en 1939, en sustitución de otro símbolo nativo americano que habían utilizado hasta entonces, una esvástica, y que se retiró cuando comenzó a relacionarse directamente con el partido nazi.
