SS female auxiliaries (Helferinnen) pose for photos at Solahütte, an SS retreat at Międzybrodzkie Lake south of Auschwitz.
This photo is from an album that belonged to SS officer Karl Höcker. The Höcker Album includes 116 pictures taken in and around Auschwitz between May 1944 and January 1945. This image is one of six photographs in a series taken on July 22, 1944. That day, Karl Höcker (center) accompanied the women on a day trip to the retreat. In the album, there is a handwritten caption that reads “Here there are blueberries” (“Hier gibt es Blaubeeren”).
