Judith Meisel descrive come contrabbandava cibo nel ghetto di Kovno

Alla morte del padre, Judith e la sua famiglia si trasferirono a Kovno. Ben presto furono confinati nel ghetto della città che i Tedeschi avevano costituito nel 1941. Judith, sua sorella e sua madre furono deportate a Stutthof, dove la madre morì. Judith e la sorella scapparono da una marcia della morte partita da Stutthof. Si finsero non-Ebree e lavorarono in alcune fattorie trovando, alla fine, rifugio in Danimarca. Il fratello riuscì a sopravvivere a Dachau.
