在毛特豪森 (Mauthausen) 挖出的花岗岩

这张照片展示了由奥地利毛特豪森公共纪念馆 (Mauthausen Public Memorial) 捐赠给美国大屠杀纪念馆的 190 块花岗岩中的一部分。1938 年，在一座废弃的采石场附近，纳粹建造了毛特豪森 集中营。当年囚犯要把这些花岗岩背上 180 多级的石梯。小块花岗岩每块重量在 30 到 45 磅之间。而较大块的花岗岩每块重达 75 磅以上。被分配到这个集中营进行强制劳动的囚犯很快就会累死。
