Yona Dickmann hizo este peine de aluminio usando partes de aviones después que las SS la transfirieron de Auschwitz a realizar trabajos forzados en una fábrica de aviones en Freiburg, Alemania, en noviembre de 1944. Usó el peine cuando su cabello, afeitado en Auschwitz, empezó a crecer.
