Im Juni 1941 besetzten deutsche Truppen Eyshishok und verübten dort drei Monate später ein Massaker. Die Sonensons überlebten den Krieg im Versteck, jedoch wurde Zipporah kurz nach der Befreiung von Eyshishok getötet.
