ドイツ北部の一大産業都市であるハノーバーには、3か所の強制労働収容所がありました。 これら3か所の収容所はすべて、ノイエンガンメ強制収容所組織の一部でした。 1945年の4月前半に、米軍はハノーバーに入り、生存していた収容者を解放しました。 米陸軍通信隊は、解放直後にハノーバーの収容所の1つを映像に収めました。 米軍は収容所の生存者に食料を与え、ドイツ人市民に対して死者の埋葬を手伝うことを求めました。
